Considering Wisconsin’s dominating victory over Michigan State on the road this past weekend, it shouldn’t have been surprising that honors were coming the way o the Wisconsin Badgers. However, it wasn’t just one, but two players who were honored as Big Ten Players of the Week for Week 4 of the season. On Monday, the […]
Coming into the season, we knew that the linebackers would be among the best units in the Big Ten, if not the country. We knew that the front-7 would be filthy. We were right. But what many doubted, including me, was the secondary. It was a perfectly valid concern. Wisconsin Football had lost one of […]
Spartans Stadium has been a bit of a nightmare for the Wisconsin Badgers, but the 2016 team more than exorcized those demons in a 30-6 victory over Michigan State on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers simply dominated the Spartans from start to finish in UW’s most dominant Big Ten road win in some time. In fact, […]
The mystery at running back for the Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan State appears to be solved. At least according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, who is reporting that senior running back Corey Clement will make his return to action after missing last week’s game against Georgia State. Clement was last seen in the Akron game, where […]
After three weeks of getting to know this team, it is time to finally find out exactly how far the 2016 Wisconsin Badgers football program can go. That all starts with the Big Ten opener this weekend in East Lansing. Check out our full preview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jblPsjPSYMY As well as our full week of Badgers […]
Gary Andersen — the name brings up some pretty intense feelings amongst Badger fans. It is also perhaps the biggest blemish on a stellar coaching and athletic director reputation that Barry Alvarez has built up at the University of Wisconsin (the decline of the hockey program aside). Winning three Big Ten championships in less than […]
Earlier this week we took a look inside the Michigan State Spartans offense, noting its strengths and what the keys to Badgers success against them would be. Now it is time to understand MSU’s defense and take a look at how Wisconsin can find a way to win on this side of the ball. Let’s […]
Wisconsin vs. Michigan State — it is supposed to be a sloberknocker and the most physical game of the 2016 season. Except that it might not exactly happen that way thanks to a Wisconsin Badgers backfield in a state decimated by injury. The Badgers will come into the game against the Spartans with question marks […]
University of Wisconsin wrestling coach Barry Davis announced Tuesday that his team will forgo its annual intrasquad scrimmage this season. “We will be using the performance at the early season tournaments to determine who will be representing the Badger Team during the dual meet season,” Davis said in his weekly “Tuesdays with Barry” newsletter. “It […]
Enough of non-conference play, it is time for the 2016 Wisconsin Badgers football program to sink or swim. Of course that means tackling perhaps the most insane slate of conference games in the history of the Big Ten. It also means starting off at a place that the Badgers have historically hated playing at — […]
The Wisconsin wrestling team announced Monday that assistant coach Trevor Brandvold has been promoted to associate head coach. Brandvold is entering his fourth season on head coach Barry Davis’ staff. During his competitive career, he was two-time All-American and Big Ten Champion for the Badgers. “It’s kind of surreal because I’ve always been a Badger […]
Tell us if you’ve heard this story before — Corey Clement is out injured, Taiwan Deal has issues with his ankles and lower legs and Dare Ogunbowale has yet to breakout. One would think we were about talking last season. Instead, a lack of health at running back has created an opportunity that may not […]
Big Ten play is upon us, and after Saturday’s way-too close 23-17 victory over Georgia State a move to spark the offense appears to have been made. That’s because a report from Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel names a pair of sources within the team as telling him it will be Hornibrook as the […]
Stats never lie, except for when they do…and as the supposed worst defense in all of FBS football rolled in to Camp Randall Stadium it was supposed to be a cake walk for Bucky. Instead, it was a four-quarter struggle to put points on the board, as UW escaped its non-conference finale with an unexpectedly […]
It is the final non-conference game for the Wisconsin Badgers football program in 2016. Where has the time gone, right? Once again, we give you a video look at this matchup and the advantages and worry spots for the Badgers against the Georgia State Panthers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C2_sRpJl54 Oh, and don’t forget the rest of our staff […]
A week following their thrilling 16-14 victory over SEC power LSU at Lambeau Field, the Badgers came home to Camp Randall Stadium to take on the Akron Zips. Wisconsin is one of the top 10 teams in the country and showed it by dismantling Akron 54-10. It Runs In The Family Wisconsin alumnus J.J. Watt […]
It will take more time to type this piece out than it likely did for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program to sell out its student section for the 2016-17 season. That’s because it took all of three minutes for the student section tickets to be gone. With the likes of Nigel Hayes, Ethan […]
That state of Wisconsin has become a hotbed for national college basketball recruiting, and after years of watching the best talent in the state head elsewhere the Wisconsin Badgers have begun to change that momentum around as the future recruiting classes come in. On Monday, that streak continued as the No. 2 ranked player in […]
With Wisconsin ranked 9th and Michigan State ranked 12th in the latest AP Poll, there is a very good chance College GameDay will head to East Lansing in Week 4 to attend their second Wisconsin Football game of the season. However, a few things need to fall into place. http://gty.im/72671224 First of all, it would […]
Dominating the Time of Possession has long been the trademark of a healthy Wisconsin offense. The Badgers took that to a new level in Saturday’s 54-10 trouncing of Akron at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin held the ball for a whopping 40:52 of the game, the longest time of possession for the Badgers in the Paul […]
On what was supposed to be a quiet day of college football, upset scares were aplenty. Clemson and Georgia each narrowly avoided upsets against cupcakes, while Oklahoma State lost to a MAC underdog. The Wisconsin Badgers did not have that problem. They came out of the gate with fire, running the ball down Akron’s throat […]
After a big win in Week 1 at Lambeau Field, many wondered if the Wisconsin Badgers would take a step backwards with the Akron Zips coming to Camp Randall Stadium. UW answered those questions in an emphatic manner, taking care of the the visitors 54-10. Wisconsin got the win thanks to a stifling defense and […]
We’re experimenting a bit with our preview for football this season…this week we give you a look (an actual look) at Wisconsin vs. Akron. Please let us know if you like, love, hate or anything in between as our Andy Coppens previews all things Akron at Wisconsin in Week 2 of the 2016 season.
Akron Game Week Opposition Research:
However, our other staff members have their own opinions after everyone lost last weekend and is 0-1 to start the season in our prediction pool. Let’s take a look at what the staff believes will happen this week.
Other Staff Predictions:
Nate Woelfel: Wisconsin 42, Akron 10
Even off a huge win, I don’t see the Badgers overlooking the Zips. I had a hard time spotting Akron even 10 points considering the UW defense only allowed one offensive touchdown last week. However, I could see some points floating the vistors’ way during garbage time.
Sawyer Bock: Wisconsin 38, Akron 10
Clement and Dare run all over Akron and the defense remains one of the best in the country
Rayan Vatti: Wisconsin 28, Akron 17
There are a lot of people worried that Wisconsin might start slow after such a huge win last week, and that does have some merit. Akron does have a good passing game, and they will test Wisconsin’s inexperienced secondary early and often. At the end of the day though, Corey Clement and Wisconsin’s rushing attack will be too much to handle.
Week one’s game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the LSU Tigers will not be examined by NCAA films at the end of the season. It was ugly. There were six combined turnovers, and the two teams completed fewer than 60 percent of their passes. Wisconsin escaped with the victory, which is really all that matters. […]
