2013 National Signing Day: Dearring, Hill, Koenig, Brown Become Newest Basketball Badgers

Next to the signing day for football in February there may not be a bigger day on the recruiting calendar than today as the early signing period opened up for most sports, including basketball. With that we know for sure that Wisconsin has four members of their 2013 basketball class on board.

Riley Dearring of Minnetonka, MN signed on the dotted line first with the Badgers, posting this picture to his twitter account via his dad:

This is always a proud day for kids and their parents, realizing a dream come true and the family of Dearring is obviously very proud of him, including this tweet from his dad:

It's also being reported that Jordan Hill out of Pasadena, CA – by way of Exeter Prep in New Hampshire, sent in his letter of intent this morning. (ht/ to @Evan_Flood)

As for the rest of the class? Well, according to Bronson Koenig's own twitter account he will sign at his ceremony at 2:30pm Central.

Following that up will be big man Vitto Brown, who announced late Monday that he will hold his signing day ceremony at 7pm from Bowling Green High School.

That leaves just Nigel Hayes, the most recent verbal commitment to sign on the dotted line. Hayes has until the 21st of November to sign the LOI for the early signing period and while he may not actually sign on day one there shouldn't be any worry about this commitment at all either.

As a whole let's take a look at just how good this class could very well be, shall we?

Overall thoughts on the class:

Getting Nigel Hayes just before the start of the early signing period made a good class great and once he signs with the Badgers it's safe to say this could be the most athletic class as whole this team has ever seen.

A future featuring Brown, Hayes, Dekker, Dearring, and Koenig should have Badger fans rightfully giddy about what could be in the next few years. Now, obviously Dekker isn't part of this class, but he's a key component of the next few seasons and this 2013 class surrounds him with the type of talent that could be something very special.

Of course this is all on paper and speculation, but the prospect of the talent and athletic ability the members of this class have coupled with the tough and hard nosed nature of Bo Ryan is very intriguing and I for one can't wait to see this group playing together next season and we're just one game into this season. Hayes and Brown were huge because of the losses coming in the form of Bruesewitz and Berggren graduating this season.

No doubt about it folks, the Badgers basketball future is bright and I dare say that overall from top to bottom this is singularly the best class that Wisconsin has ever put together.
